Access and Ignite Celebrate the Success of their 2nd Annual Online & TV Auction
Tuesday, April 10, 2018
Regina, SK – Access Communications today announced the Ignite Online & TV Auction was once again a huge success. The auction concluded on Sunday, April 8, 2018 with a live show celebrating over $12,000 raised.
"Support of community is a core value of Access Communications and we are committed to assisting groups like Ignite Adult Learning Corporation,” said Jim Deane, President and CEO of Access Communications. “We support Ignite in building strength in marginalized young adults by inspiring their hopes and dreams and empower them to live to their full potential.”
The funds raised will go toward a project in which participants attend work and learn skills necessary to join the present labour force. Each year 35 to 40 at-risk young adults, aged 19 to 30 are hired by Ignite as apprentices. Their job is to learn - seven and half hours a day, five days a week. Wages are deducted for lateness or absenteeism. Poor performance and chronic absenteeism are causes for dismissal from the program.
Carlo Bizzarri, manager of Ignite Adult learning Corporation said the support was much needed.
“As I look back at how we as a society approach social challenges like, how best to enable struggling young adults to take their rightful place in a productive society, we often use camouflaged inaction, namely, we go through the motions that make it look like we are doing something. Not so at Ignite. Programs have to work and not be band-aid solutions. Allocation of resources to do what needs to be done requires a clear vision of our social realities. Access Communication’s investment in this yearly auction to garner resources for Ignite to do tangible work with struggling young adults is an example of this social clarity. Ignite is grateful for Access Communication’s commitment,” Bizzarri said.
