Access Communications’ Pumpkin Patrol Celebrating 20th Year of Helping to Keep Kids Safe Halloween Night

Regina, SK – Access Communications’ annual Pumpkin Patrol is ready to hit the streets in a big way this year, with support from several community organizations who have volunteered to help with this unique safety program on Halloween.

Adding more eyes and ears to the program’s 20th year of patrolling are Citizens on Patrol. The organization will join Access Communications employee-volunteers in patrolling the streets on Halloween evening as a safe contact in case children need help while trick-or-treating.

Each Pumpkin Patrol vehicle is equipped with reflective signage, a flashing orange pumpkin, and most importantly, radios in contact with a central dispatch at Access offices in each city: Regina, Weyburn, Estevan, North Battleford, Yorkton, Humboldt, Melfort and La Ronge.

“On Halloween night, when there are many children out in our neighbourhoods, the Access Communications Pumpkin Patrol volunteers are there to add a watchful eye and a link to police, if necessary,“ said Tracey Mucha, Access’ Communications Officer. “Pumpkin Patrol is just one of the ways Access Communications gets involved in the communities we serve. Our staff members have a great time out there while they are providing a valuable public service.”

Access Communications welcomes the co-operation of the Regina Police Service and local RCMP detachments to provide this community service. The Regina Police Service has been supportive of Pumpkin Patrol since its inception.
