Access Communications Labour Day Show N Shine raises $30,185 in support of Regina Food Bank

Regina, SK – Over five thousand spectators soaked up the sun and the festival atmosphere on Monday as 550 vintage cars took centre stage at the 11th annual Access Communications Labour Day Show N Shine. The event, held at Access Communications Community Park, raised more than 2,000 pounds of food and $30,185 for the Regina Food Bank

“We couldn’t have asked for a better day,” Jim Deane, President and CEO, Access Communications Co-operative said. “We had the whole neighbourhood full of exhibitors and spectators – altogether contributing to a record-breaking benefit year for the Food Bank.”

Steve Compton, Chief Executive Officer for the Regina Food Bank said the support was much needed.

“The summer months can often be a tough time of year for us at the Food Bank as folks tend to forget about the ongoing needs of those less fortunate in our community,” Compton said. “The money and food raised at this year’s Show N Shine will go a long way in helping us meet those needs and we’re extremely grateful to Access and all the community partners who made this happen.

The event is organized in partnership between Access Communications Co-operative and the Collectors Car Club of Saskatchewan, together with 80 volunteers. For the second year, the event was presented by CAA Saskatchewan. “This year’s Labour Day Show N Shine was truly a win/win for everyone. The car exhibitors and enthusiasts were both large in number which always makes for a great show, plus a significant fundraiser for the Regina and district Food Bank. We were very pleased to be part of this major community event, especially during this year’s CAA Celebrate 100 Years activities,” said Fred Titanich, President and CEO, CAA Saskatchewan. He added, “We were happy that Andrew Hiltz, the 2017 Saskatchewanderer joined the onsite CAA crew and added his social media savvy as Saskatchewan’s best travel blogger.” Supporting sponsors include Abadoo Marketing, Bennett Dunlop Ford, Custom Creations, Loraas Disposal, Western Litho Printers, CJME, Z99 and JackFM.

This year’s event truly showcased how the Labour Day Show N Shine is the largest car show in Southern Saskatchewan and has become a family tradition all in support of a really good cause.
