We are grateful to the Children's Fund for investing in our Community Based Mentoring Program, which matches a Mentee (ages 6-17) with a Volunteer Mentor (18+) to build a Developmental Relationship that expresses care, challenges growth, provides support, shares power, and expands possibilities. Mentor/mentee matches meet for 2-4 hours per week, after school or on the weekends, in the community for a minimum of 1 year. The goal of this program is for the mentee/mentor match to build a healthy Developmental Relationship that also supports the social-emotional competence, mental wellness, educational engagement, and employment readiness, of the mentee, by reducing risk-taking behaviors and promoting healthy development. Thanks to the investment of the Children's Fund, our agency is able to recruit, screen and train volunteer mentors and match them with a screened and trained mentee. BBBS staff continuously monitor and support each match to ensure the safety of the mentee, as well as to encourage the development of the friendship and positive growth for the mentee.

"We are Glenn and Angela Fink, and we are writing this to represent not just ourselves, but the heart and soul of our organization, Reach Autism Learning. We want to share a bit about who we are and why we do what we do, and thank you for joining our mission that we are so passionate about.

We have been on an incredible journey raising our son, Andrew, who is now 26. Raising a child with autism is not a path we expected, nor was it always easy. The challenges were numerous, the unknowns overwhelming at times, but Andrew has taught us more than we could ever imagine. Today, we can share that Andrew is doing remarkably well, thanks to all the early intervention support and prayers. God has been faithful to us and we have seen many miracles in Andrew’s life.

Our journey, however, didn’t stop with Andrew’s success. In fact, it led us to the vision of Reach Autism Learning. It became clear that we wanted to help other parents navigate the struggles we had faced—feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure of what the future would look like. We’ve learned that with the right support, resources, and understanding, every child with autism has the potential to thrive. Reach Autism was born, out of our desire, to help and support other families with Autism."

Hope’s Home has been a true blessing for families caring for children with complex medical needs. As a medically integrated childcare centre, it provides not only education and programming, but also vital respite services — giving parents peace of mind knowing their child is cared for by trained professionals. In the past, respite often meant a hospital stay due to the lack of specialized caregivers, but Hope’s Home changes that. With inclusive recreation equipment, every child — regardless of ability — can participate in activities designed just for them, creating joy, inclusion, and unforgettable moments for both children and their families.

Your contribution helps spread hope, love, and belonging when it matters most.

St. Jerome School

The Children’s Fund is supporting the creation of a Classroom Complexity sensory space at St. Jerome School to help students who experience challenges with emotional regulation, attention, and sensory processing. This calming, inclusive environment will provide students with access to sensory tools that support relaxation, focus, and self-regulation. The program’s goal is to improve students’ readiness to learn, reduce behavioural incidents, and promote overall mental well-being by offering proactive support before challenges escalate. Funding from the Children’s Fund will directly enable the purchase of specialized equipment and furnishings, ensuring students have a lasting, supportive space to regain focus, feel safe, and succeed in the classroom.
