The 2023-2026 Access Communications Accessibility Plan formalizes our commitment to improving accessibility at Access Communications for its employees, volunteers, members, and customers. Cognitive

Directory Assistance 

Access to directory assistance 411 You get standard Directory Assistance access - simply call the numbers listed below.

Charges apply as follows:

  • Call type Rate 411: Directory Assistance (Local) Saskatchewan $1.00
  • 1-AREA CODE-555-1212: Long Distance Directory Assistance All Regions $1.00

Simplified Remote 

Available on request. The Simplified Remote has the basic buttons you need to operate your tv without all the extras. Click here to view a diagram of the remote.

Voice control  

Available on TiVo and NexTV remotes, as well as compatible with Fire Sticks. This feature allows you to use simple voice commands by pressing a dedicated button or using a “wake” word (example, “Hey Alexa”). Once activated, you can verbally command the TV to perform actions, such as changing channels, adjusting volume, navigating menus, launching apps, or searching for specific content.

Call display (name & number)  

If your phone has a three-line display, both the caller’s name and number will appear between the first and second ring. On a two-line display phone, only the caller’s number will appear.

Emergency enhanced service 911  

In an emergency, dial 911. All Enhanced 911 call handling services are available on your Access lines.* Enhanced 911 gives emergency operators automatic location information (delivered onto their screens at the time they receive your call), as well as call control features such as call hold, off hook ringback (Howler), On hook ringback (ERB), and force disconnect.

Hearing

Closed Captioning – Available for TV and YouTube content 

A text-based display of spoken words, audio cues, and relevant sounds on a screen to help you enjoy your TV experience. Closed captioning can also be used in various situations beyond accessibility, such as in noisy environments, language learning, or when the audio is muted.

Algo Loud Ringer 

Algo loud ringing speakers provide solutions for effective audible alerting in noisy or noise-sensitive environments where a regular telephone ring or night bell may go unnoticed. VoiP options available on request.

Qolsys Security Voice Commands on panel  

Users can control their security systems using simple voice commands. For instance, you can ask your digital assistant to arm or disarm your system, control smart home devices connected to your system, or even inquire about the status of your system. This hands-free operation adds an extra layer of convenience, ensuring the system is easy to use for all members of your household.

Described Video 

Provides a narrated verbal representation of key visual elements in a video or film, including actions, scenes, and expressions. This narration is synchronized with the original audio, enabling a more inclusive viewing experience by conveying important visual information that may not be apparent from the dialogue or sound alone.

Message Relay Service 711 

The message relay service enables customers who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired, and who use a Teletypewriter (TTY), to communicate with others via the telephone. You simply type your conversation to a Relay Agent who then reads the typed conversation to the other party. The Message relay service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no charge for using the relay service to place local calls, and regular long-distance rates will apply for long distance calls. Calls placed through the relay service are entirely confidential. Relay agents are professionally trained and follow a strict code of ethics. No record of conversation content is retained. The Teletypewriter equipment is the responsibility of the customer. You can place a call by dialing the number below, depending on whether you are calling another TTY device or a telephone.
