Access Communications selects Vecima Networks to power IPTV delivery

Regina, SK – Access Communications announced today the first steps in delivering industry-leading next-generation television to its customers. Access will source Saskatchewan-based technology by partnering with Vecima Networks to deploy Vecima MediaScaleX platform in its IPTV solution to subscribers across the province.

“Access is dedicated to providing exceptional video services to the communities of Saskatchewan,” said Jeffrey De Sarno, Chief Technology Officer at Access Communications. “Leveraging the latest advancements in video delivery, the new solution makes it easier for our customers to view national and local content, when and how they want.” Subscribers will soon enjoy new features including downloadable applications to play content on the leading retail devices, guide look back, unified search, and remote DVR scheduling.

Focused on providing operators a highly flexible and scalable solution that delivers subscribers superior video experience, Vecima’s MediaScaleX hyperconverged software delivers the new service by leveraging common hardware infrastructures that facilitate an affordable cost profile. The solution enables operators to sustain legacy video ecosystems while accommodating new subscribers and expanded content packages including 4K and HEVC. “MediaScaleX supports a wide range of functionality that enhance viewers’ quality of experience (QoE), including time shifted playback and viewership through subscriber-provided devices,” said Clay McCreery, Chief Revenue Officer at Vecima. “We are proud to partner with Access to deliver cutting edge services to their customers.”

Updated Access Communications applications will be available for all types of subscribers and use cases, including iOS, Android, and Smart TV’s, starting early 2021.
