Major League Baseball (MLB) on Facebook

Regina, SK – Facebook has taken a new swing at sports. The social giant announced a deal with Major League Baseball (MLB) to exclusively stream 25 games worldwide during the 2018 season.

As part of this deal, each individual team could see up to four of their games streamed exclusively on Facebook. Therefore, those games will not be available on linear television or through any other streaming service in Canada (or the United States). This will affect broadcasts on both Sportsnet and MLB Extra Innings. The game is only available on Facebook.

As of now, there are two Toronto Blue Jays games that have been selected as part of the package that MLB sold to Facebook – April 18 and May 24, 2018. As such, Sportsnet is not able to broadcast them on television or stream them through Sportsnet NOW.

Under the new Major League Baseball (MLB) deal, all of the games streamed on Facebook will be weekday afternoon matchups. The deal commences with the April 4 game between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets starting at 1:10 p.m. ET.

Fans can get reminders for the weekly broadcast on Facebook by following the MLB Live show Page. Following the Phillies and Mets game on April 4, Facebook will exclusive stream the following games:
