Access and Ignite celebrate success of first TV auction

Regina, SK – On Sunday, April 2, 2017, the Ignite Adult Learning Corporation held its first TV auction on Access7 in Regina. The online auction concluded on Sunday with a live show celebrating over $21,000 raised.

"Support of community is a core value of Access Communication and we are committed to assisting groups like Ignite Adult Learning,” said Jim Deane, President and CEO of Access Communications. “Ignite is all about helping the transformation of young adults from dependency, from addiction, from hopelessness, to self-reliance."

The funds raised will go toward a project in which participants attend work and learn skills necessary to join the present labour force. Each year 35 to 40 at-risk young adults, aged 19 to 30 are hired by Ignite as apprentices. Their job is to learn - seven and half hours a day, five days a week. Wages are deducted for lateness or absenteeism. Poor performance and chronic absenteeism are causes for dismissal from the program.

“We are so grateful to Access Communications and all the organizations who helped sponsor our auction fundraiser,” says Carlo Bizzarri, Manager at Ignite Adult Learning Corporation. “The funds raised in the Access7 TV auction goes a long way to achieving our goal.”
