Regina, SK – Access Communications Co-operative (Access) is excited to announce it is stepping up with a major sponsorship of the Weyburn Theatre Community Service Cooperative (WTCSC). The WTCSC is a non-profit organization leading the revitalization of a first-run movie theatre in the community to be known as the Credit Union Spark Cinema. Access is going to be the theatre’s Showtime Sponsor, which includes the two theatre screens and the projection room.
“We are very excited to be a part of the revitalization of a first-run movie theatre in Weyburn,” said Carmela Haines, President and CEO of Access. “This initiative speaks to our value of being community-oriented and this project will be a major boost to Weyburn bringing the community together for movies and other special events.”
The new theatre is slated to open in the summer of 2025 and is expected to cost around $3.2 million. It will be a state-of-the-art theatre in a nostalgic location featuring:
• Two auditoriums with plush stadium seating
• Concessions
• First-run movies (new releases)
Once open the theatre will be run by the WTCSC.
“Access truly embodies the cooperative spirit through their support of projects and organizations across Saskatchewan and we are thrilled they have chosen to partner with us,” said Sean Purdue, Treasurer of WTCSC. “This sponsorship kicks off a very exciting year for the Theatre Cooperative and we can’t wait to share what’s next with the community.”
